Revlon Lip Butter

I've seen this product raved about on a lot of blogs that I read, so when I walked into Boots and saw their 3 for 2 offer I decided I'd try out Revlon Lip Butters in 3 different colours...

I'm not usually a lipstick person, and I've always found that lip glosses are just too sticky and glossy for me.. And the boyf always moans when I kiss him with lip gloss on as well! I've also found it usually doesn't last for very long...
I decided to choose three different colours for different occassions...

I don't usually go for really pink lip colours, but I completely fell in love with this shade. It is a lot pinker in real life so be warned!
I wouldn't wear this colour everyday as I'm not a bright lips person but for special occassions or days where I'm feeling a little bit feisty this colour is perfect.

I'm just gonna come out and say this is my favourite :) it's so natural but as you can see it has a little glitz in it so still makes my lips feel that little bit special!
This is my everyday one at the moment and the stick is going down fast!
(no idea why my skin is a diff colour in this picture as opposed to the others... camera must have been having a funny 5 minutes!)

This picture doesn't really do this colour justice, it is a little bit darker and has a bit more berry in it (as the name suggests)... Think my flash took away the darkness which distinguishes it from the other two shades...
I really like this shade and it is different to what I usually wear so is good for those days I feel like being a little bit different but not feisty enough to be a sweet tart...

The lip butters are actually fantastic and I couldn't recommend them enough. They last for a good couple of hours and have really helped to moisturize my poor dry bitten lips!
You can get these from Boots for £7.99 and they are doing 3 for 2 at the moment so PERFECT excuse to buy!!

Bringing Lacey Back

If you read any of my twitter posts then you've probably seen me sigh over this beauty.
I showed a picture of it to the boyf thinking that when he saw it he'd say he didn't like so I'd think 'no I won't get it...' but alas no - he said he liked it and so I accidently bought it...

Dress New Look
Belt Levi
Bangle Accessorize
Wedges Topshop

I absolutely love this dress. It's just so pretty and girly! I am a bit of a lover of lace, so it was inevitable I'd fall in love with it.
I completely fell in love with the back, its so unique and just incredibly subtle - however it does pose an annoying bra issue!
I wouldn't recommend wearing white underwear under this either as it's very noticeable.. opps!
Have toughened it up with my Levi belt courtesy of the boyf and my tribal Topshop wedges :)

What dress can't you stop thinking about?

Wake Me Up

Normally I don't go for foundation as I find it too, stodgy, I think might be the right word. However, I was intrigued by Rimmel's Wake Me Up Foundation and I'd heard great things about it through other blogs..
So I succumbed and I tried...

The foundation is meant to give a radiant glow and give an 'anti-fatigue' effect - not entierly sure if this means it's meant to wake you up or just make you look vibrant but either way, I still love it.

It's so easy to apply and goes on really easily and gives great coverage. It makes my skin feel really soft and it doesn't feel heavy like a foundation which is refreshing.
One thing I also love is the smell - I can't quite put my finger on what it smells like, however it's incredibly fresh and I really like it.

After using this for a week or so, it hasn't made me break out like other foundations which is a really nice surprise. This makes a happy happy lisa indeed :)

My one teeny complaint would be the bottle - it looks lovely and really attractive, however my worry is that there isn't that much in there, and unlike a squeezy tube or something like that, you're not gonna be able to get the last dregs out...
However, I'm happy to be proved wrong!
What's your fave new foundation?

Save Face

Ever since doing my blog I have discovered a variety of beauty products and have consequently been using a variety of different products in my everyday routine!

Usually it consisted on the same foundation, blush, eye liner etc but I have widened my range a little bit ... Here is today's face:

Foundation: Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Soft Beige
Bronzer: No7 Bronzing Pearls
Eyeliner: Chanel Intense Eye Pencil in Black
Mascara: Estee Lauder Sumptuous Waterproof Mascara in Black
Lips: Revlon Lip Butter in Peach Parfait

I try not to use a load of make up cause my skin has a habit of breaking out so I usually used a tinted moisturizer but sometimes I find it doesn't quite do the trick! Which is why I have started using Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (post to come on this!).

Hope you like :)

Revlon Top Speed Nail Varnish

Have had a little bit of a Revlon haul at the moment... poor bank balance!!

One of my new favourite purchases is this gorgeous shade of Revlon Top Speed Nail Varnish...

605 Emerald

This is my first experience of a proper greeny shade and it's very unlike me! But I completely love it - especially as it made my Dad say "why are your nails green... it looks weird"... Good times!

I don't know about you, but I'm always very dubious of any nail varnishes that claim to be quick drying etc as they usually disappoint. However, this actually does what it says on the tin (of bottle as it were). It literally dried so quick, I didn't even have time to blink! By the time I'd finished my second hand the first was dry and I could apply the second coat. I was really impressed.
Was very surprised at how quickly and how well it dried so I can definitely recommend this :)

I do apologise about my terrible nail painting skills though as the boyf has just pointed out they are terrible and has volunteered to do them from now on - will be holding him to this!

Tips on painting nails please?

Taming the Wave

I dread washing and drying my hair – and I know I’m not the only one. It’s not because I don’t like my hair, I do, it just takes forever to dry and style so that I’m actually happy with it.
Not only do I have thick hair (and I mean thick – hairdressers run when they see me coming) but I have naturally very wavy hair. I can’t let it dry naturally otherwise it looks like I’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards, birds would take residence up in it.

I spend around half an hour blow drying and styling my hair after it’s been washed – and that’s also after leaving it in a sexy towel turban for twenty minutes. I know a lot of people have the same trouble as me so...

Here is my general routine:

I use Herbal Essences Tousle Me Softly shampoo and conditioner. I am a complete Herbal Essences addict and switch between different types, but this is my love at the moment.
It really helps to actually control my waves as well as the frizz that comes coupled with waves. Not only that but it smells amazing. It really leaves my hair feeling soft once it’s been blow dried as well which I have discovered is a hard thing to achieve with my hair!
Once I am all clean and out of shower I spritz my hair with GHD heat protector. As well as being a heat protector I have found it actually helps to straighten my hair out – whether it means to or not I’m not sure but it does!

I have had really dry hair as late due to an accidental hair dying incident a couple of years ago so I always use a heat protector now just to be sure (and I don’t let drunk guys dye my hair anymore either!).
Once I’ve left it in its turban towel for twenty minutes i brush it out and then blow dry it. I have to do this section by section so that it dries straight and keeps my wave under control. I used a round barrel brush as well to keep the volume.

I would also always suggest drying your fringe first (if you have one) as otherwise it’ll dry a different style to the rest of your hair!
My one tip for taming and controlling wavy hair is this: take your time with it! If you try and rush it, it won’t look the way you want it to! I would use trial and error with products as well, products that have worked with controlling my mums waves or my friends waves haven’t necessarily worked on mine. Different products work differently on different types of hair!

What's your hair routine?

Coral Contrast

I am a bit of a navy whore... If you look in my drawers you will literally see a sea of navy so I like to buy accessories and cardigans etc to completely contrast navy.

Here is a perfect example. I recently went to Bournemouth for the day with the girls to do some shopping and see Steps ....

Cardigan: Topshop, Top: Topshop, Jeans: Topshop, Belt: Levi, Necklace: Lola Rose, Bracelet: Lola Rose, Sunglasses: Accessorize

I think the coral of the jewellery and the teal of the cardigan really help to contrast to excessive navy in the outfit (self admitted navy addict). This necklace is one of my absolute favourites and I really do wear it a ridiculous amount...
The Levi belt came from my lovely boyf after he discovered it was too small for him and they wouldn't let him refund it (uh oh...) so I got it (yay!) and I actually really like it, it fits perfectly around my waist and it the perfect tone of brown as well.
This outfit was very comfortable, but not incredible warm so I ended up having to buy a new jumper in H&M to keep me way (yes... i HAD to!)...

Jumper: H&M (please excuse the cheesy grin!)

Bellapierre Shimmer Powder

A lovely product from the She Said Beauty April box.

This products boasts that these beautiful shimmer powders will provide long lasting, vibrant colour without any additional filler.

I used this product when I went out on Good Friday. I used it on top of my bronzer and also along the shoulder blades.
I haven't used a shimmer in forever as I was always a bit scared it'll make me look like a young girl, I also worried it'd make me look far too glittery.
However, this one really surprised me and I really liked it. It went on really easily and it didn't look ridiculously glittery. One of the things that really impressed me about it was the reaction I got from a friend when we got home at around 2am - "O you're all shimmery! I have to use that next time!"
I was still shimmery and it lasted through lots of sweaty (ick) dancing.

I would recommend this completely, the price doesn't really bother me at all either as I would only use this on special occassions so I'd imagine it'd last for ages.

Have you ever used shimmer powder?

Slouch in Beige

This weekend was a bit of a lazy weekend for me, so I dressed to match...

Jumper H&M, Shorts Topshop, Earring New Look, Necklace New Look, Bangle Accessorize, Boots Ugg

I absolutely love this jumper. It is so comfortable and can be dressed up for work with smart trousers and heels, or a pencil skirts... Or dressed down as you see here.
H&M did it in loads of colours, but I chose beige as it literally just seems to go with everything. It's slightly crop as well so is exactly on trend.
These shorts can be high waist and I wore them non-stop when I went to Australia last year with the boyf. They are ridiculously comfortable and stretchy so the perfect slouchy shorts which again can be dressed up if necessary!.
This is one of my FAVOURITE necklaces. I've never really been a red person, but my friend Andra got me this for my birthday last year and I literally wear it non stop. It's great for adding a bit of colour like it does here so an outfit is not completely boring.

What's your slouchy weekend outfit?

Topaz & May: Rebrand

Morning Guys!

As you may have noticed (as I have been shouting about it around twitter) I have rebranded the blog from SeenIt Beauty to Topaz & May.

My reasons for this were:
SeenIt was a name I originally used for a movie blog I was going to start up and thought about doing a series of blog including fashion and beauty, then realised I preferred doing the fashion and beauty one so did that one instead.
For me, SeenIt wasn't a great fashion/beauty blog name and it didn't really have an relevance to me...

Topaz & May has some history to it...

Topaz is my birthstone - I was born in November - and I love it, my favourite being blue topaz - hence the blue theme running through the blog.

May is my middle name - well one of, I'm actually Lisa Katharine May Hearn - I just ignore the Katharine bit.

So Topaz & May is completely relevant to me and I absolutely love it.

I love the new design as well. It needed doing as I was just using a standard blogger template and it wasn't very 'me'... But this is now completely me and I'm really happy with.

Would love to know what you think or if you think I can make any improvements!
I'm still so new at this so any feedback would be amazing!

My twitter is now @topazandmay so please keep that in mind if you'd like to mention me or tweet me.

I will be putting up a giveaway today as well to celebrate the rebrand and getting 100 twitter followers so keep an eye out for that!

Thanks guys!

Filthy Gorgeous Nails

A fab product from my She Said Beauty April box.

in 'Tu-Tu Much"

This is a longwearing, high shine, high pigment professional quality nail varnish. You can see from the above picture just how much shine you get off of this nail varnish.
Que "I can see my face in it" shine quotes...

I absolutely LOVE the colour. It's so loud and bright. While I'm not huge on bright lippys and bright eyes I love having bright nails. Now I have stopped biting them (trying to anyway) I love having my nails painted and looking fantastic.
I applied 3 quotes as the first 2 quotes were quite low on colour, but as will all nail varnishes you just need to add a couple more quote for enhance its colour.
Without a base quote it lasted really well and I didn't get any chips for a couple of days. It was also really easy to apply, i really liked the brush.
However, it doesn't dry as quickly as I'd like. First time I applied it I started doing stuff as I would do other nail varnishes and it came off and chipped and ended up on the inside of my cardigan sleeve... So leave it a while to dry after you've applied it.

Otherwise I absolutely loved this and think its THE perfect colour for our current weather as it can brighten up any grey outfit!

Raining Florals

I refuse to conform to the current ever changing weather - it IS spring and I WILL dress for Spring.
So today when I was deciding what to wear for work I came across this little beauty that I forgot I had...

Absolutely LOVE this skirt and so glad I discovered it in my wardrobe! It is very spring/summery but pop it with some tights and a jumper and it'll match our current weather...

Also match it with some ankle boots and you're set! I love these boots - fantastic little find when I was browsing through Commercial Road at University once...

Shirt: Topshop
Skirt: Topshop

I love florals and a skirt/blouse so this is the perfect 'Lisa' outfit!

Mischa Barton Luscious Lips

Here is a product I received in my She Said Beauty April box.

in 'Pink Pop'

I didn't even know Mischa Barton did lipgloss so this was a surprise to me! This is a rich hydrating lip protector with a hint of flattering colour. It protects with SPF15 and hydrates with vitamins.

I LOVE the colour of this. It looks great in the pot and also on the lips as well. It's natural enough for me as I'm not one for big bold make up and it does stay on for quite a while - even when you've had a drink and eaten its still there. Have not tried it against kissing yet though...
As for its hydrating quality, I have to say I havent noticed any different with my lips and I've been using it for a few days now - I do see it as a bit more like a lip gloss then a lip balm.
I would recommend it. I really do like the colour and I have been using it a lot - mainly everyday use and I'm not a lippy kinda person.
As for the price, if I saw it as a lip balm there is probably no chance I'd pay £8 for it, however as a lip gloss with balmy qualities I have to admit I've paid more so I have no objections to paying that for this.

What's your must have lip gloss?

Easter Weekend

I hope everyone had a fantastic long weekend! I myself am slightly heavier then usual after eating a lot of chocolate and being able to eat bread and dough!

Had a great weekend - it was one of my friends 21st on Friday and he has an inflatable obstacle course for the day and then we went out so that was a fab day! Saturday was spent in bed recovering... Then Sunday was spent at a friends playing games !
Monday was a lovely family time as the big brother was home from Cardiff so it was easter cakes with the boyf in the morning then tv and roast dinner in the evening!

Here are just some snapshots of my weekend!
If you wanna know about any of the outfits just ask :)

Some very expensive, nice, random shots me and Amber had at 90s in Southampton. We went a little gangsta after that...

Amber, me and Andra on the inflatable obstacle course slide. Very achy ever since!

Definite bunny theme from all the chocolate given to me by the parentals... Yum yum!

Me, Amber, Andra, Becca and Hannah - the girls at Matts 21st in Southampton!

The boyf and me made shredded wheat mini egg cakes!
Yum yum.
Gone down a treat in the house I must say!

Slate & Lace

Here is my little outfit I wore for a night out for my friends 21st on Good Friday. I absolutely loved it and it's so different to what I usually wear out - standard is usually black bodycon skirt and a nice top.

I really liked this outfit, was so comfortable and stylish, and also really cute thanks to Andra's top I stole (hmm may not give it back...) Add some trust Lola Rose and we're in business! Was really comfortable to dance in and surprisingly so were the shoes... My GORGEOUS new Miss Selfridge shoes!

Let me know what you think :)

Top: Topshop (Andra's wardrobe...)
