The How To | Helping Poorly Skin

So, don't get me wrong, I've been ill before and it's been worse then the past week. However, for some reason the past week has really taken its toll on my skin. Remember in my skin care routine when I said "I'm so lucky I don't get dry skin..." Yeah, can't say that anymore! My skin has gone super annoying. It's gone very dry around my nose and forehead, and it's just got very dead and dull. Not only that but I have massive dark bags under my eyes. Super fun right?!

When this started happening I had a couple of products that I thought could help with dullness, however dry skin I had nothing in my collection to really help. I thought it would be quite fun to talk about products I've been using to help sort my stupid skin out - be prepared for a mix of skin care and make up. Fun times...

So, first of all I need to deal with the dryness. The skin around my nose, up the bridge of it and between my brows has become very dry and my foundation or base has been sticking to these patches - nice. I've been using the Origins Make A Difference Rejuvinating Treatment+ all over my face just to help all skin problems and I've found this has been great at helping to brighten and also soften the skin in general. Around the nose and dry patches in particular I've been using the Boots Essentials Moisturising Cream in Cucumber which is a thick cream that helps to nourish that area. I began using it on all of my face but it made the rest of it feel so greasy that I couldn't carry on that way - why I usually avoid thick moisture creams! I had tried a mask as well but it made no difference so...

For dullness I've been using the Vichy Idealia Life Serum which is a beautiful brightening serum that has a pearlescent look to it so it just adds a natural glow to the skin that is missing when you're ill. For the eyes I've been using a couple of products. The first is the Boots Essential Cucumber Eye Gel, I've just found this to be a really refreshing and hydrating gel that has just really helped keep that area hydrated instead of dry. I've also been using the Vichy Idealia Yeux/Eyes which is very brightening for under the eyes in the morning and helps combat some of those dark circles. I've also been using the Maybelline DreamLumi Touch Highlighting Concealer as my under eye concealer at the moment as it's such a good highlighting concealer. It really brightens under the eyes and sets it up for the day. It is doing so much more than my usual concealer. I've also been using the Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter pencil on my cheek bones to just lift the entire face to help brighten in general.

Lastly, my lips have gone really dry as well so I've just upped my use of the Nuxe Reve De Miel lip balm. Before I was using it just when I got up in the morning, and before bed, however I've been using it all day as well just to make sure I can keep my lips healthy and hydrated.

I've found so far this seems to be helping improve my current skin issues. My cold seems to be making it's way out of my system so I'm hoping my skin will go back to normal after as I feel like I can't use most of my skincare products at the moment as they're too harsh, but thankfully this seems to be doing the job of counteracting!
